Treasure Chests are any ordinary chest found while underground in caves. They may include valuable treasure, such as gold pieces, gold, uranium, platinum, etc. The container of the treasure can vary, commonly being a regular Chest, but are sometimes Crates, and rarely Locked Chests. Beware, they are commonly found near Spider Eggs!

- Blocks/items that are locked in the world (or haven't be picked up or prospected before), are displayed as a locked symbol, similar to the locked blocks/items in the shops, when opening a treasure chest. (As of the 1.8 update, this has been fixed/changed.[Verified])
- A way to bypass this is to break the chest, which will drop the item, which may be picked up.
- Opening 30 treasure chests will unlock the Pirate Avatar Skin.
- Treasure container variance was introduced during the PC Public Beta period.
