Iron is a common block and can be smelted in a furnace to get iron ingots for making many tools, weapons, and armor.

If you are in need of crafting tools, this is best to buy iron with any kind cheap of fuel instead of iron ingots.

Iron can be combined with carbon in a furnace to make steel ingots.

Description

In-game description: "Iron is the most common element on planet Earth, forming much of Earth's outer and inner core, and it is the fourth most common element in the Earth's crust. Iron is the sixth most common element in the Universe."

Uses

• Iron Ingots made from smelting iron in a furnace can crafted into many tools and armor. The ingot can be placed in a furnace with carbon to create steel ingots, unlocking a whole new set of tools and armor.

• Resistance = 1800
• This block CANNOT be broken with fists.
• 100% Must use a Wood Pickaxe or greater.
• 50% Must use a Wood Shovel or greater.
• 50% Must use a Wood Hatchet or greater.
• 30% Must use a Wood Sword or greater.

How to Obtain

• It is found starting from the surface down through the first supercavern (~890 depth). It stops appearing before the second supercavern (~1950 depth).
• Iron can be purchased from a Block Shop ( Ore Tab) for 96 and can be sold for 80.

• Iron Ingots sell for more gold pieces than iron itself. See also: Crafting Money
• Buying iron and any kind of inexpensive fuel (such as sticks) is cheaper. Iron (ore) is 96, while iron ingots are 122. You would want to insist on smelting the blocks into bars rather than purchasing iron ingots from the Item Shop.
