Chests are a block used to store other blocks, tools, and objects. A chest can hold any type of tool, object, block, etc. A single chest's max capacity is double the standard inventory space. When placing chests next to each other, they do not merge together.
In-game description: "Use chests to store your items. Items remain in chests permanently, until removed."

Chests can store 60 slots worth of items or blocks.
Chests can be used as fuel in a furnace, lasting 12 seconds. It is not recommended to make chests for the sole purpose of burning them as the 8 wood planks used to make it would last 160 seconds.
